Purpose: The purpose of this module is to expose students who want to pursue agricultural economics or farming as a career. The module is part of the Advance diploma in Agricultural (Agricultural Economics option). The module is aimed at training students to apply production, financial, marketing and human resource management principles to the farming environment. The module has been designed to help students learn about and apply the basic concepts and practices of modern agribusiness principles as they are used in a wide variety of farm business settings. This module will enable students to apply appropriate South African Human rights and Labor practices in their farming business. Qualifying students, credited with this module will be competent in financial analysis, budgets, risk management and credit facilities. Qualifying students will also be able to manage their farming enterprises by following business management principles, assess and identify the funding needs of farmers and support them to make appropriate funding decisions, identify problems and challenges and make recommendations on how farmers problems can be mitigated, train farmers and equip them with Agribusiness management skills in the South African context.
