| Purpose: The module focusses on the economic theories that underpin the aviation industry. The scope of the module includes an overview of the airline industry; the low-cost airline revolution; the air cargo industry; cooperation and alliances in the airline industry; provision of airport services in remote regions; aviation forecasting; the maintenance of airline fleets; environmental issues in the aviation sector; issues facing the airport industry; and the economics of aviation safety and security. The theory is supplemented with informative articles from industry leaders, case studies, and South African specific analysis to ensure all of the various learning outcomes are also application orientated. |
