| Purpose: The purpose of this module is to enable students to apply chemical engineering principles and concepts to the synthesis and analysis of biologically-based processes and products. In particular, the concepts of thermodynamics, kinetics, mass and heat transfer will be applied to enzyme catalysis, microbial growth, bioreactor design, and bio-separations. Furthermore, students will gain a good understanding of bilogical concepts, in particular, the structure and function of cell, enzyme structure and function, and molecular biology. |
