| Purpose: The purpose of this module is to allow the student to critically analyze and apply the mathematical and scientific principles that s/he has learnt in the previous Chemical Engineering modules by researching a complex engineering topic. The topic should lead to an investigation or experimental study which is typical of what the graduate would enconter in an employment situation shortly after graduation. The student should explore the research literature: conceptualize experiments; obtain, analyze and interpret experimental data; draw valid conclusions and understand the limitation of applying these conclusions to situations or contexts outside of the experimental sey-up.The objective of this research project is to produce new knowledge or insight into a phenomenon.
This module is part of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology Honours degree in Cheminal Engineering. By completing this project, the student will also be equipped to engage in independent and life-long learning through well-developed learning skills. |
