| Purpose: The purpose of this module is to give students an introduction to computational tools that are used to numerically formulate and solve chemical engineering problems. In the first part of the module, students will learn advanced skills on how to use Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) as a mathematical modelling and simulation tool for process engineers. Emphasis will be placed on learning how to use VBA macro programming and Excel developer tools to develop process engineering modelling tools that are easy to share and use amongst chemical engineers in the industry. The module form part of the Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
