Purpose: The purpose of this module is to equip students with knowledge and skills to enhance childrenメs reading and writing abilities to enable graduate students to apply an alternative strategy to teach language effectively to children from different environments. The in-training student teachers will be able to interpret the literature from different perspectives and develop the ability to interact with context-based literature differently. They will develop skills to increase childrenメs comprehension of the abstract word and concrete pictures for reading and writing as they relate to and understand stories. The students will apply strategy to increase childrenメs vocabulary and how to develop their creative skills for writing. In addition, becoming student teachers will experiment through the medium of childrenメs literature as technique for school teaching in a first additional language. In their teaching, the students will develop the ability to use storytelling as an appropriate delivery mode to accommodate children of varying abilities and within different contexts by using age-appropriate approaches and strategies. |
