Purpose: The purpose of this module is to provide comprehensive knowledge and insight into various presumed causes and nature of children's and youth's behaviour that deviates from accepted social norms and legal standards. It aims to offer students an in-depth perception of the complexities and often misunderstood nature of youth offending, enabling them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills to contribute to creating a safer society by addressing the challenges faces by South African youth constructively and holistically. Students who successfully complete this module will acquire the necessary competencies and problem-solving skills to identify the nature, causes, and risk factors associated with youth offending, learn to critically assess issues affecting children and youth within the South African context, and apply prevention and control measures to address child misbehaviour and youth offending for a safer South Africa. |
