Purpose: This module is designed to equip learners with knowledge, skills and competencies relating to collective labour law. The module provides students with an informed understanding of collective labour law in South Africa with emphasis on general knowledge of legal principles relating to collective labour law.
Students credited with this module should have a solid knowledge base of collective labour law principles and be able to solve well-defined but unfamiliar collective labour law problems. This module is structured to incorporate aspects of Africanisation and indigenisation of law enforcement. It also seeks to infuse Constitutional values contained in the Bill of Rights which advocates for Ubuntu, social responsibility and humanisation of the law by ensuring fairness in labour relations, including in dispute resolution mechanisms. Practical scenarios provide students with the opportunity to learn and prepare for cases in the real world.
