Purpose: The purpose of this module is to equip students with skills, competencies, values and attitudes to be able to identify and explain a range of concepts and terms that reveal the central preoccupation of sociology as a scientific discipline. The module also gives students an opportunity to learn about sociological theory, presented in a variety of forms, including Durkheimian, Marxist, Weberian, post-modern, colonial, and post-colonial forms.
