Purpose: The module aims to equip students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to practice as ethical and competent professionals in Corrections. Students are introduced to transformational issues in South Africa, exploring both the historical context and contemporary challenges facing the correctional system. By examining the professional characteristics and ethical principles of correction officials, as well as recognizing the dynamics of groups and teams, students will be able to contribute to an inclusive culture that promotes diversity and equity. Finally, the module equips students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills for effective decision-making in corrections. Successful completion of the module will enable students to uphold the high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct, thereby promoting positive change within their communities. |
