Purpose: The purpose of this module is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of curriculum theory and introduce them to a range of readings to enable them to develop innovative and contextually relevant responses to curriculum issues. The course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to critically analyze and design curricula that are responsive to the needs of diverse learners, as well as the broader social, cultural, and political contexts in which they operate. Students will explore various perspectives on curriculum, including those informed by history of education, comparative education, educational philosophy, psychology, and sociology. Ultimately, this module seeks to empower students to become informed and reflective practitioners who can contribute to the ongoing improvement of educational practice and to prepare students for research in the curriculum studies field. |
