Purpose: The purpose of this module is to introduce the student to key concepts and related terms in descriptive statistical and probability. The module seeks to provide the student with base knowledge to be able to use and apply these concepts in practical scenarios. The student is able to define and apply types of data variables; describe and represent data both numerically and visually, and apply numerical descriptive techniques in scenarios. The student will be able to interpret events and rules of probability, random variables, discrete probability distribution such as the Binomial distribution and the Poisson distribution in scenarios. This module further looks at aspect of continuous probability distribution such the uniform, normal distribution and exponential distribution. Finally, aspects of the sampling distribution of one sample mean and proportion and concepts of interval estimation for mean and proportion are introduced. |
