Purpose: The qualifying student can apply the theories of digital records forensics and archival diplomatics in determining the authenticity, reliability, integrity and functions of digital records throughout their life cycle. These competencies contribute to the management and preservation of trustworthy records for legal, administrative, financial and historical purpose. The module is critical in establishing digital records forensics and archival diplomatics in both private and public sectors in South Africa, the African continent and the globe. Students can engage with core knowledge at advanced level, imbedding skills and values. This module support further studies and applications in the Information Science sector of the discipline of archival science, as part of the Bachelor of Arts honours in Archival Science qualification. Enrolled students in this blended mode are required to engage using computers and the Internet on a weekly basis, to connect with others, to self-study, and to participate in online discussions. |
