| Purpose: This module is primarily industry oriented and provides students with a sound knowledge base in production engineering. At the completion of the module the student will be able to understand and practically apply production engineering techniques and principles to broadly defined engineering problems in manufacturing and service environments. The principles include layout and location strategies; inventory management; MRP and ERP; project management; Just-In-Time and Lean Manufacturing; total productive maintenance; AI robotics and autonomous systems, and Supply-Chain Management. Students will have the ability to combine this knowledge and concepts with those of other disciplines to solve problems encountered in practice in the era of Artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and autonomous systems. | |||
