Purpose: This module is intended for first year students who are pursuing a career in the field of industrial and organisational psychology, including practitioners in the field of human resources. The purpose of learning in this module is to enable students to develop an understanding of African principles and theories related to environmental psychology in the organisational context for the purpose of applying knowledge gained in assisting individuals and organisations to evaluate, develop and engage in behaviour and decision-making that contributes to individual and organisational performance.
The qualifying student will be able to explain the importance of theoretical and scientific processes underlying person-environmental relations behaviour in the African work context; describe the effects of environmental stressors as they manifest in the person-environment interaction; apply the African principles relating to environmental psychology in improving the relationship between the environment, people and workplaces. |
