Purpose: of this module is to provide students with the knowledge and skills required for field crop production. Students who achieve this module will demonstrate an understanding of the field crop industry in South Africa and qualifying students will be be familiar with local production statistics and trends, marketing structure, botanical classification and basic morphology as well as field management and cultivation practices for the major field crops in South Africa. The purpose of the learning is to familiarise students with the major field crops and to enable them to apply appropriate practices in field crop production.
