Purpose: To enable learners to explain and apply chemical bonding and introductory organic chemistry principles such as chemical bonding, physical properties, introduction to stereochemistry and the nature and behaviour of hydrocarbons, hydrocarbon derivatives (alkyl halides, alcohols and ethers), amines and carbonyl compounds (aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, acid halides, esters and amides).
