Purpose: The purpose of this module is to develop advanced health promotion strategies and programmes which are key to the transformed South African National Primary Health Care System. The community health nurse specialist will be equipped to drive a shift in health improvement which requires decolonisation of delivery of health services to African communities. They will thus be accountable for the improvement of the health status of communities. The target group for this module is graduate registered professional nurses. Students who complete the Post Graduate Diploma leading to registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Community Health Nurse Specialist, will be competent to function as consultants and managers of community health services at Provincial and National levels. |
