Pre-requisite: BIT2601 or BIT2602 or BCH2601 or MIB2601
Purpose: Students credited with this module can explain how biological organisms or components thereof can be used to produce various products at an industrial level. They will be able to evaluate the benefits of using specific microorganisms, substrates and fermentation processes. Qualifying students will be able to join industries involved in the production of bio- based chemicals and materials. These competencies will contribute in building biotech capacity and further assist in developing the biotechnology industry in Southern Africa.
