Purpose: This module will enable students to analyse international trade with a specific focus on trade theories and trade policy issues and the motives and effects of international capital flows on output and welfare. Students will be able to describe, evaluate, and debate the validity of the different trade theories and trade policies to establish how they affect economic role players (consumers, producers and government) with respect to South Africa and the developing world.
