Purpose: The purpose of this module is to equip students with a sound understanding of the different concepts and principles in archives and records management so that they can apply these (concepts and principles) in managing records that promote transparency, accountability and the protection of human rights. The module also provides students with an understanding of the development of the field of archives and records management and how this field contributes to the broader field of Information Science by enhancing the management of information within society. The module also aims to foster a culture within students of recognising the significance of archives and records and the importance of managing these properly.
