| Purpose: The purpose of the module is to gain insight into the content related to creative art orientation; stages of development; aims and objectives; the role of the teacher; art activities and materials. This module has the primary purpose in fulfilling the specialist requirements for teaching Arts and Culture as a subject. Furthermore, the module aims to develop students' theoretical knowledge related to implementing Creative Arts in the classroom. Different topics of the Arts (Visual and performing) are investigated, explored and critical reflection on appreciating the diverse nature of the South African Arts in society is encouraged. Qualifying equips graduates with basic teaching skills needed in order to teach learners the basic age appropriate artistic knowledge and skills. This module offers students various learning opportunities that will enable them to demonstrate competencies and responsibility as academically and professionally qualified beginner arts and culture teachers. |
