Purpose: This module will be useful to people in examining the characteristics of adult learning relevant to the context in which they are working as adult and community education and training practitioners. People credited with this module will gain advanced knowledge of theories of adult learning. They will develop a better understanding of adults as learners and what helps adults learn best and of how this information may be applied in the various forms of adult education and training. Students will further gain knowledge and skills in how to be sensitive and flexible in the way they identify the characteristics, needs and motivations of adult learners and adult learning groups they engage with.
