Purpose: The purpose of this module is to equip students with comprehensive knowledge of and insight into the legal aspects of electronic commerce. This will be done through practical online experiences to master both the research and the digital aspects of legal research in the practice of commercial law in electronic environments.
This module is aligning with curriculum transformation principles by infusing legal instruments from the African region. In order to expose students to the changing landscape of e-commerce, instruments from that region are prescribed including that of the: African Union (AU); and its RECs namely: SADC and COMESA. These instruments are part of Africa's project to harmonize its ICT and Cyber laws. Upon completion, students will not only be able to conduct e-commerce transactions, they will also be in a position to provide legal advice to the public, companies, and government departments on issues pertaining to e-commerce.
