Mechanical Engineering Design I - MED2601

Diploma Year module NQF level: 6 Credits: 12
Module presented in English Module presented online
Pre-requisite: EME1501
Purpose: The purpose of this module is to enable students to apply constructs, theories and models into practice within a laboratory setting underpinned by the integration of prescribed standards and specification of components associated with engineering design technologies. Students will also become aware of both the basis for decisions and the standards of industrial engineering components. Furthermore, the students will apply engineering standards to design mechanical components including (Design of Bearings, Design of Shafts, Design of gears, Design of Belts and chain drives, Design of seals, Design of clutches and brakes, Design of springs, Fastening and power screws and Engineering tolerance.
