Purpose: Qualifying students will be able to apply integrated knowledge of key concepts and issues in monetary economics to determine and critically explain the functioning of the South African economy. Students will be able to analyse the role of money, financial markets, interest rates and central banks to address complex problems in the South African economy from a theoretical perspective and will be able to apply the insights to real-life situations.
