Diploma Year module NQF level: 6 Credits: 12
Module presented in English Module presented online
Purpose: This module is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, practices, and methods of observation, documentation, and assessment in early childhood education. Building on foundational knowledge of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), it explores multiple dimensions of assessing young children's learning and development. The module emphasises the integration of assessment with pedagogy, focusing on general instructional strategies that support responsive and developmentally appropriate teaching. Students will develop the ability to select, apply, and justify appropriate assessment tools, concepts, and procedures for observing, documenting, and reporting on young children's progress. In doing so, they will be empowered to support and enhance meaningful learning and development in early childhood settings.
