Purpose: Students credited with this module will be familiar with the basic statistical concepts which provide a foundation to understanding some of the statistical techniques used in the field of Operations Management. After completion, students will have an informed understanding of visual descriptions of data, graphical and tabular techniques and measures of central location, dispersion and association. Students will be able to determine confidence intervals; perform hypothesis testing involving a sample mean, proportion and standard deviation; apply different forms of Chi-square testing; understand simple linear regression and correlation.
