| Purpose: The purpose of this module is to equip students with a basic study into the teaching of Economics and Management Sciences as a school subject from Grade 7. It will assist teachers to perform their role as teachers when they start teaching the subject Economics and Management Sciences. It will instil the economic and management sciences knowledge to teachers to be able to teach the subject. It further has the overall purpose to enlarge teacher's capacity and ability to think critically and holistically regarding the educational and economical context.
To adhere to the requirement that, Intermediate Phase teaching qualifications should include a basic study of Economic and Management Sciences teaching, the purpose of the module is also to provide a broad overview of the field of EMS from a pedagogical context knowledge perspective: what are the key concepts and how best might we mediate understanding of these key concepts.
