Purpose: Students who complete this module can identify a range of indigenous and exotic plants in a real workplace situation and can identify the characteristics, requirements and horticultural applications of these plants. They then can apply this knowledge to select plants for particular environments and settings for the purposes of landscaping and garden design, and for specialised uses in indoor and outdoor settings and large-scale environmental projects. They can also apply their plant knowledge to perform a number of routine plant maintenance activities in a real situation specifically pruning, pest management and weed control.
