Purpose: Students who achieve the outcomes of this module will be able to select, recommend and apply appropriate participatory approaches for efficient extension programming for sustainable food security and the development of the agricultural sector. The module will be useful to extension managers, agricultural and scientists who are interested in rendering extension services within the agricultural sector. The module is aimed at training extension workers and managers to identify appropriate approaches in needs assessment, programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Students credited with this module will be able to identify and apply appropriate participatory approaches for needs assessment and policy implementation.
This module will be useful to students who are in the field of agriculture (plant and animal production), agricultural economics, animal health, agricultural development and extension, as well as students that are in the field of community nutrition, food security and community development/ facilitation. The students credited with this module would able to use extension participatory approaches, principles, tools and strategies to gather, interpret and convey relevant information to communities, households, farmers, supervisors, scientists and researchers to address real life situations.
