Purpose: The purpose of this module is to equip students with working knowledge and a contextual understanding of personality theories. Students are exposed to various personality theories from different schools of thought with special emphasis on African epistemologies of personality, in order to enable them to interpret and explain human behaviour according to different theoretical approaches and philosophical perspectives. They are required to assess the appropriateness and relevance of these theories in different cultural and historical contexts and, in so doing, to develop an understanding of human behaviour that is relevant to their lived experiences.
