Purpose: The purpose of this module is to expose students to the philosophical presuppositions of the nature of Mathematics and provide them with an understanding of the views on the nature of mathematics and how these influence the teaching and learning of Mathematics. Furthermore it will inform the student of different cultural orientations that lay the foundations of development of mathematics through the centuries.
