Honours Year module NQF level: 8 Credits: 12
Module presented in English Module presented online
Purpose: The Bachelor of Engineering Technology Honours in Power Engineering is primarily oriented towards advanced technology, characterised by a knowledge emphasis, focusing on advanced principles in electricity and magnetism and their application in electrical engineering technology. This module provides students with a sound knowledge of power electronics, a sub-field of power electrical engineering, with general applications in the engineering domain. Students who complete this module will be able to apply principles of and solve problems relating to DC and AC machine drives, single-phase and three-phase voltage controllers and inverters, DC-DC converters, harmonics, and various other power electronics applications. A project component of this module will also introduce the students to important aspects of research methodology.
