| Purpose: The purpose of this module is to lead students to develop integrated knowledge about various theories on teaching and learning of mathematics and to understand the cognitive development of young learners. Students will also learn to make informed selections about the types of resources and teaching strategies that can be used to enhance learning of mathematics. The module also endeavours to guide students to describe the important role that language plays in the mathematics class. Furthermore, the module offers students an understanding of assessment strategies and the ability to analyse misconceptions that learners may have in mathematics. |
