Reliability Engineering - INE2602

Diploma Year module NQF level: 6 Credits: 12
Module presented in English Module presented online
Purpose: The purpose of Reliability Engineering is to investigate the causes and nature of equipment failures, how to eliminate them and mitigate economic losses in engineering systems. It covers reliability functions, failure rates, mathematical analysis and use of different probability distributions, methods for analysing and predicting reliability, such as fault tree analysis and reliability block diagrams. Students who complete this module will be able to use mathematical and statistical analysis, to determine equipment maintainability, availability, and root cause analysis of failures, parts and inventory management, life cycle costs and other economic factors affecting equipment reliability.
