| Purpose: of this module is to provide in depth knowledge of field crop production from cultivation to processing stage. Students who complete this module should be able to differentiate between field crops and other crops, allocate different field crops to appropriate production environments and choose correct practices for cultivation, planting, protection, harvesting, processing and storage. The module focuses on various agro-ecological regions of South Africa and the different crops grown in each. This module will be useful to students who will be assisting farmers and the agricultural communities as consultants on the production of field crops for sale or household consumption. |
