Purpose: Completion of this subject allows the students to have an in-depth understanding of the vibration of mechanical and structural system. The module is an intersection between solid mechanics and dynamics theory and seeks to advance students analytical skills in the fields of solid mechanics and dynamics which are very useful for postgraduate research. At the end of the module the graduating students should be able to solve different problems involving vibration of mechanical structural components (e.g. bars, shafts, beams, plates and shells) by formulating their solutions from basic principles.
