Purpose: The qualifying student understands the desirability of establishing sustainability in the context of energy generation, the trade-offs between environmental impact, resource depletion and economic development. An understanding of the technical basics of each of the major non-renewable and renewable sources of energy, the extent of the environmental impact and resource depletion of each of the major non-renewable and renewable sources of energy is important In modern practice of energy generation. Hence the purpose of this module is to enable qualifying students apply this knowledge in gauging different options for specific scenarios when planning, designing and analysing renewable energy generation systems.
