| Purpose: The purpose of this module is to familiarize the qualifying student teacher with methodological issues to
teach mathematics literacy to learners in the FET phase within the Curriculum and Assessment Policy
Statement Grades 10 ﾖ 12 (General): Mathematical Literacy (CAPS) framework. Students who qualify in
this module can equip their learners with the knowledge, skills and values necessary for self-fulfilment,
and meaningful participation in society as citizens of a free country. Qualifying student teachers need to
provide opportunities that will stimulate the learners to be active and learn mathematics in active rather
than passive ways. This module provides qualifying student teacher with basic skills and application
skills from the curriculum document. This module sets out to give the qualifying student teacher insight
into how to teach Mathematical Literacy (CAPS). |
