Purpose: The purpose of the module is to provide students with detailed knowledge of the theoretical concepts of transport economics. Students will also be able to evaluate, select and apply appropriate methods, procedures and techniques in processes of investigation within the interaction between demand and supply in the transport market.
Students will be able to advance reasons for the integration between transport demand, supply and costs to form the economic structure of transport. The module will also focus on providing students with an ability to identify, analyse and solve problems on how prices are determined in transport and the effect of external costs on transport pricing. Finally, students will be able to show how investment in transport infrastructure can influence increases in social welfare.
