Purpose: The module is part of the 4-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Agricultural Economics option). It is intended for Agricultural Economists, researchers, trainers and facilitators in the field of agriculture. It will be useful for students who want to pursue agricultural economics or farming as a career. Students accredited with this module are able to: define the concept of "The economic problem" and relate it to the agricultural production situation, describe the four factors of production, explain the problem of consumer choice in the market, understand and apply the concepts of supply and demand on the market and how the government intervenes in the market, describe input/output relationships in production economics and understand market structures that exist in the economy.

Purpose: Farm management as a problem-solving tool is discussed in relation to both positive and negative impacts on society; agribusiness and food security; and good practice trends as a means of achieving quality control on farm management practices. Studnets credited with this module will be able to demonstrate understanding of the applications of farming in the society; acquire insight into farming impacts on the environment, agriculture, nutrition, industry and health, show understanding of how farming depends on their disciplines espceially animal health, animal science, crop science, economics, environmental science and food security, show an appreciation of the material and equipment required for conducting research in farming; demonstrate an understanding of why it is important to adhere to the principles and methods of quality control when applying farm management as a problem solving tool. The module is intended for Agriultural development technicians, trainers and facilitators in the field of agricultural management.
