Purpose: The overall purpose of this module is to guide students to use essential tools to work as historians. This module equips students to study Christian Historiography and methodology at post- graduate level. The module introduces students to what how historical research is done and assist them in exploring the significance of these processes. The content provides a broad understanding of the methods used to do Church/Christian History. It also guides students to explore the nature and characteristics of the art of writing History and Church History. Finally, students are enabled to examine examples of how the writing of History changed over time.
Research Report - HRKEG81

Purpose: This module equips students with knowledge and skills to compile a research essay on a chosen topic in Church History. Students will be able to 1) formulate a viable research proposal for a research essay; 2) design a structure for the research essay; 3) produce a literature review and develop historiographical understanding; 4) present research findings in the form of a research essay of 30 000 words, using standard practices and conventions employed in historical research.
A Detailed Study of a Primary Text - KEG4802

Purpose: This module equips students with knowledge and skills to work with primary sources as a major tool used by historians. Students will ユ be introduced to the study of primary sources ユ explore the significance of primary sources for the study of Church History today ユ gain a broad understanding of the situation the authors found themselves in ユ explore the nature and characteristics of the church and its development over time ユ examine examples of Christian writings from different stages in the life of the Church ユ understand the motives behind and methods used by authors.
A Detailed Study of a Theological Theme or a Theologian - KEG4803

Purpose: To introduce students to the study of themes and theologians and explore the significance of these for the study of Church History today. To help students gain a broad understanding of the situation the theologians found themselves in, to explore the nature and characteristics of themes within the church and its development over time, to examine examples of Christian themes and Christians from different stages in the life of the Church and to understand the motives behind and methods used by the Church.
