The module: French for Professional Purposes: Hotel and Tourism (FRC3702) has two internal Options:
Option A covers Advanced Business French while and Option B explores Hotel and Tourism Industry.
Students must choose ONE Option. Be aware that you cannot register this module twice even though it has two Options i.e. if you choose Option A and pass it you will not be allowed to do Option B later.

Purpose: The Purpose of this module is to broaden and deepen the student's knowledge of French grammar, which will further enhance the aptitude in the four language skills from a lower intermediate level to an intermediate level. Students who achieve the outcomes of this module will be able to use French grammar in the four basic communication skills i.e. speaking, writing, reading and listening proficiently.
French Literature: Introduction - FRC2603

Purpose: To introduce you to a selection of short texts from French and Francophone literatures and to basic guidelines in French for the analysis and interpretation of these texts.

Purpose: This module develops and reinforces language skills as well as communicative competences of the student acquired during the first two levels of study. Students are further exposed to cultural and media aspects relating to Africa and Europe. The module tackles general language and the French civilization. This module aims to provide a broad understanding of the French language of the day-to-day communication settings. The student will be able to handle a conversation in writing and orally in French. The module will afford students the ability to engage in dialogue with French speaking interlocutors, write official letters and participate in an official interview in French. The student will be able to make use of advanced grammatical aspects in spoken and written language.

Purpose: This module consists of two internal Options. Option A aims at getting the student to familiarise himself with the socio-professional seeks to equip the student to use the French language in his work while developing language skills that are necessary in his profession; covers Advanced Business French while Option B explores Hotel and Tourism Industry. This module is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in French business and hotel and tourism; the student will acquire a good foundation in French for professional purposes in either of the chosen option and the student will be able to understand and communicate in writing as well as orally when engaging French speaking clients. Practical Translation from and Into French - FRC3705

Purpose: To train student in the techniques and practice of translation from and into French/English. This module aims to provide students with a practical aspect of translation, which will enable students to, visualised and comprehend that the transfer from one language to another is not just a simple transcription of a linguistic system to another. Students are introduced to the practice of translation by engaging with syntax, semantic and especially pragmatic problems. Moreover, this process is more than a sign system; It involves a thinking system, and thus, it entails not only conveying the message from the source text in language a but also the style, the tone, the emotive factor as well as the mood and the feeling created in the source text to the target language.
