Purpose: The purpose of this module is to equip students who will actively inform the social justice agenda (including client safety and human rights) through lobbying and advocacy for policy changes The qualifying students will also be equipped to act as a leader, mentor and coach for the community and multidisciplinary teams to promote and facilitate community participation, involvement and development in health care in diverse African contexts.
Health Promotion - CMH4804

Purpose: The purpose of this module is to develop advanced health promotion strategies and programmes which are key to the transformed South African National Primary Health Care System. The community health nurse specialist will be equipped to drive a shift in health improvement which requires decolonisation of delivery of health services to African communities. They will thus be accountable for the improvement of the health status of communities. The target group for this module is graduate registered professional nurses. Students who complete the Post Graduate Diploma leading to registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Community Health Nurse Specialist, will be competent to function as consultants and managers of community health services at Provincial and National levels.
