The Unisa Innovation Festival, scheduled from 25 to 29 November 2024 at Unisa’s Muckleneuk and Science Campuses, offers a week-long exploration of the university’s latest innovations and trends. It is an opportunity to engage in discussions about broad innovation trends, research and collaboration, and to foster partnerships within the innovation ecosystem.
Under the theme "Innovations for Societal Impact", the festival features keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities led by thought leaders from academia, government, non-governmental organisations, funding agencies, social enterprises and the private sector.

One of the programme highlights is a talk by innovation expert Rapelang Rabana, Co-CEO of Imagine Worldwide and a ForbesAfrica-recognised serial innovator. She’ll share insights in her session, "Lessons from the Front Line: Chronicles of a Serial Innovator/Entrepreneur".
Rabana is deeply committed to education and skills development in Africa. Imagine operates across seven African countries, providing tablet-based learning programmes to develop literacy and numeracy skills in millions of young children. Before Imagine, she founded Rekindle Learning, an edtech company that enables organisations to easily codify and share institutional know-how among their teams to drive business performance.
Featured on the cover of ForbesAfrica magazine before the age of 30, named Entrepreneur for the World by the World Entrepreneurship Forum, and selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Rapelang is an internationally lauded technology entrepreneur. She holds a BSc (Computer Science) and an MSc from the University of Cape Town.
The festival is open to the innovation community, including researchers, academics, investors, entrepreneurs, Unisa staff, and students.
