CAS Celebrates Young Academics' Participation in Prestigious Programme

Since its inception in 2008, the Young Academics Programme (YAP) has become one of Unisa’s most impactful initiatives. Established as part of HR Development’s capacity-building efforts, YAP addresses the critical need to develop a strong cohort of high-quality academics. The programme targets academics under the age of 35, focusing on enhancing their tuition, research skills and academic leadership abilities.

YAP is dedicated to nurturing promising and talented young academics, providing them with the essential knowledge and skills to excel. The programme also prepares participants to take on leadership roles within their academic departments, colleges and the broader institution. Throughout the programme, participants engage in comprehensive training that includes personal development, teaching, learning and research.

We are thrilled to announce that four outstanding members from the College of Accounting Sciences have been selected for the prestigious UNISA 2024 Young Academics Programme (YAP). Ms Neo Molefi-Kau, Ms Nolukhanyo Mkala, and Ms Simphiwe Mili from the Department of Taxation, along with Ms Clara Msiza from the Department of Financial Accounting, have distinguished themselves among over 100 candidates interviewed for this honour. They join a cohort of 29 exceptional candidates chosen for their promise and talent.

The YAP aims to cultivate the next generation of academic and managerial leaders, and our colleagues have just completed the first two weeks of this intensive six-week programme. This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering excellence and investing in the professional development of our staff.

Their participation in the YAP not only highlights their dedication to their own growth but also reflects the College's ongoing efforts to promote and invest in the highest standards of academic and management development. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to the invaluable contributions they will make in the future.
