Unisa has produced its first PhD graduate in Setswana. Dr Justice Kobue Legodi encourages others to pursue their research through their indigenous languages, as it enriches their culture and language, amongst others.

From a domestic worker to an assistant director - against all odds!
In 2003, a then domestic worker, Ms Johannah Baloyi, turned a new leaf in life when she graduated with a BA degree in Political Science and Communication at Unisa. Sixteen years later, on 26 September 2019, Baloyi returned to Unisa to graduate with a degree in Bachelor of Arts (Health Science and Social Services), this time around as an Assistant Director at the Department of Labour.
