High-level Unisa delegation in France to advance Science Diplomacy
A high-level delegation from the University of South Africa (Unisa) is on a research and innovation mission in France to attend the South African Higher Education Institutions Research Week. The event started in Paris, France on Monday, 27 June 2022. The itinerary will also include a visit to Montpellier, one of the French cities renowned for being the hub of Science and Innovation. Unisa innovators awarded European patent for ground-breaking invention
The College of Science, Engineering and Technology’s Prof Vijaya Vallabhapurapu from the Department of Physics and Prof Patrice Umenne from the Department of Electrical Engineering were recently granted a European patent for their invention which will have a significant impact in the fields of quantum computing and medical imaging. Growing up in rural Limpopo, where access to clean and safe water has always been a challenge, Dr Makgalake Pabalelo Radingoana used her background to inspire her research work into agricultural water supply. Speaking on the global stage during the UNESCO World Higher Education Conference 2022, Professor Puleng LenkaBula, Unisa Principal and Vice-Chancellor, said that the university of the future must return to its past in order to rediscover its ontology, epistemology and pedagogy, and that it must be inspired by the past as much as it is by the idea of futures. Unisa alumni encouraged to be ambassadors of the university
Approximately 100 alumni were excited to re-ignite Mbombela chapter activities and strengthen the alumni network. Like many of the alumni chapters of Unisa, the Mbombela Chapter had to postpone most of their projects and activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Read more
