Top banking and fintech specialist to address Innovation Festival

The Unisa Innovation Festival, scheduled from 25 to 29 November 2024 at both the Muckleneuk and Science Campuses, offers a week-long exploration of Unisa’s latest innovations and trends. It is an opportunity to engage in discussions about broad innovation trends, research, and collaboration, and to foster partnerships within the innovation ecosystem.

Under the theme "Innovations for Societal Impact", the festival features keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities led by thought leaders from academia, government, non-governmental organisations, funding agencies, social enterprises, and the private sector.

A programme highlight is a talk by banking and fintech specialist Lincoln Mali, who is passionate about leadership and people development and spends much of his spare time mentoring and developing young leaders.

Mali is an experienced banker, business leader, speaker, and author with over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Lincoln is currently Chief Executive Officer, Southern Africa for Lesaka Technologies Inc. Lesaka is a Nasdaq and JSE listed company focused on Fintech in the financial inclusion space in Southern Africa. Mali made the move to Lesaka (formally Net1 U.E.P.S. Technologies, Inc.) in 2021, following his role as Head of Group Card and Payments at Standard Bank Group. In 2022, Mali published his book, Blazing a Trail: Lessons for African Leadership. Proceeds of the book's sale go toward funding the work of the Lincoln Mali Leadership Foundation, a not-for-profit focusing on youth upliftment and leadership development initiatives.

This event is open to the innovation community, including researchers, academics, investors, entrepreneurs, and Unisa staff and students.
